William Broder Gallery

The Vallejo Center for the Arts is proud to present “Bill Broder: Lost and Found,” a compelling solo exhibition showcasing the expressive and wide-ranging work of five decades of California artist Bill Broder.
The exhibition is open to the public every Saturday and Sunday from 12 PM to 4 PM, now through June 13 at the Vallejo Arts Center at 330 Virgina Street in Vallejo, CA.
A lifelong artist, Broder discovered his gift for drawing early in life. “I am a guy who found I could draw at an early age, and I liked it,” he recalls. “By age eleven I began to paint in oils. I loved the smell, the feel of the brush full of color as it moved across the surface of a drum-tight white canvas.”
With the encouragement of his father, Broder began oil painting as a child and later honed his skills at the San Francisco Art Institute. There he was mentored by the legendary Richard Diebenkorn, who encouraged his exploration across a variety of media and subjects. Spanning decades, Broder’s body of work represents a powerful journey through transitional art, expressed through a rich array of media: oil, charcoal, pastel, and mixed materials. His paintings reflect a deep and personal exploration of life’s experiences, filled with emotion, memory, and transformation. From bold abstracts to introspective figures, Broder’s evolving style is both masterful and deeply human.
